Malofiej World Summit – About

The 20th Infographics World Summit will be held in Pamplona at the School of Communication at the University of Navarra, between March 21 and 23, 2012. The Social Sciences Building of the University of Navarra will be the location for the meetings of the awards jury prior to the Summit, as well as the site of the Summit itself and the “Show Don’t Tell!” workshop. The Infographics World Summit will bring together jury members, speakers, media professionals from around the world, academics and students.

For seven days Pamplona becomes the world capital of infographics. On the occasion of its twenty year history, the 20th Infographics World Summit will offer a special program. Not only will the book Malofiej 19 be presented, which features with the works from the previous year’s event, but so will the anniversary book ‘Infografía. Cien definiciones visuales’, published by the SND-E for this occasion, as well as a free iPad application with the gold medal winners from all previous summits. The Social Sciences Building, headquarters of the sessions, will also host a special exhibition on infographics and various visual “interventions” aimed at strengthening the celebratory nature of this year’s summit.

Most of the speakers and lecturers of the 20th Infographics World Summit have already been confirmed and will be announced in the coming weeks. The final ceremony and closing dinner for Malofiej 20 will take place, for the first time, in the Social Sciences building. The winners of the competition will receive their medals at the event and the most important graphic artist and most important graphic for the past twenty years will also be announced.

La 20ª Cumbre Mundial de Infografía se celebrará en Pamplona, en la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Navarra, entre el 21 y el 23 de marzo de 2012. El edificio de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Navarra alberga durante una semana no sólo la Cumbre sino, antes, al jurado de los premios internacionales y a los participantes e instructores del taller Show Don’t Tell! En la Cumbre Mundial de Infografía confluyen, por tanto, jurados, ponentes, profesionales de medios de todo el mundo, académicos y estudiantes. Pamplona se convierte así, durante siete días, en la capital mundial de la infografía.

Al cumplir veinte años de trayectoria, la 20ª Cumbre Mundial de Infografía ofrece en esta ocasión un programa especial. No sólo se presentará el volumen Malofiej 19, con los trabajos de la edición anterior, sino también el libro-aniversario ‘Infografía. Cien definiciones visuales’, que edita la SND-E para la ocasión, y una aplicación gratuita para iPad con las medallas de oro de todas las ediciones anteriores. El edificio de Ciencias Sociales, sede de las sesiones, acogerá además una exposición especial sobre infografía y diversas ‘intervenciones’ visuales que pretenden reforzar el carácter festivo de la edición.

La mayor parte de los ponentes y conferenciantes de la 20ª Cumbre Mundial de Infografía ya están confirmados y se irán anunciando en semanas sucesivas. La ceremonia final y la cena de clausura de estos Malofiej 20 tendrán lugar, por primera vez, en el propio edificio de Ciencias Sociales. Allí se entregarán las medallas a los principales ganadores del certamen y allí se anunciarán también los nombres del gráfico y del infografista más importantes de estos veinte años.
